Sustainable Materials in Trade Fair Construction – A Trend at ISPO 2024

ISPO 2024 made it clear that sustainability in trade fair construction is no longer a niche topic. Between performance textiles and outdoor innovations, the focus of stand design was on wood, recycling, and energy efficiency.

From Material to Message

Many exhibitors used FSC-certified wood, recycled plastics, and textiles made from recycled fibers. This creates not only a visually pleasing environment but also a communicative signal. A stand made of recycled material speaks about values – before anyone reads a text.

Think Modular

Sustainability is also evident in reuse. Many concepts rely on modular systems that can be adapted for further trade fairs. This reduces costs and material consumption. Exemplary implementations can be found in the photo series on ROMA (Bau 2025) or Weltenbrand (Ausstellung Freising).

Technology and Light – Efficiently Conceived

LED is standard, but ISPO showed even more: motion sensors, dynamic brightness, and solar panels for self-sufficient lighting. These concepts can be photographically conveyed through targeted lighting designs – an approach that is also gaining traction in other industries. See also Sustainability at BAU 2025.

Conclusion: Aesthetics with Attitude

Whether in the sports or industrial sector – sustainability has found a visual language in trade fair construction. Wood, texture, and light form a harmonious unit and show that design and responsibility are not contradictory.
